Panthers 31 - Falcons 14 Week 6 Recaps 11px-Star_full.svgGame Of The WeekWeek 6 Recaps 11px-Star_full.svg

*Note: Falcons original owner did not play in this game

The undefeated Panthers were yet again out on the prowl. The main predator being Deangelo Williams, who ate the Falcons up for 176 yards and 2 TDs on 21 carries. The Panthers jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter. By halftime, the Panthers had a 24-14 lead. The Falcons Matt Ryan (17-35, 262 yds, 2 TDs, 2 INTs) made a modest attempt at overcoming the deficit but the Panthers' bend-but-not-break defense held the Falcons scoreless for all but one quarter (3rd, 14 points). The Panthers' QB Matt Moore barely had to throw the ball in this game. He had a mere 7 completions on 11 attempts for 112 yds. Carolina, along with San Francisco are now the only undefeated (5-0) teams in the league. In Week 7, the Panthers will face the new-look Eagles who will be without their former franchise QB Donovan McNabb, but will have a new defensive play-maker in Michael Griffin. The Falcons will head to Arizona and hope to redeem themselves after this loss.

Chargers 14 - Broncos 7

The battle for first place in the AFC West proved to be a heated defensive struggle. The Chargers defense had a slightly better performance and as a result they came out victorious. Both teams had 4 sacks, but the Chargers had two INTs, while the Broncos had none. Antonio Cromartie took one of those interceptions to the house and it proved to be the game winning score. Kyle Orton (21-35 for 201 yds, 1 TD, 2 INTs) tried his best to lead the Broncos to a come from behind victory, but his two INTs were crucial errors. Phillip Rivers, on the other hand, had a very efficient game. He was 13 of 19 fo 157 and 1 TD. Neither offense had a running game to speak of. The defensive fronts were just too dominant. At 3-2, the Chargers are now on top of the AFC West. In Week 7, San Diego Chargers will have a chance to prove they belong among the elite when they face the dominant 49ers. The Broncos (2-4) are in second place and face the 3-2 Colts in a must win.

Vikings 34 - Jets 19

After starting the season 0-4, the Vikings have gone on a mini 2 game winning streak. The new coaching staff seems to have rejuvenated the team and the players are starting to come together. It's always tough going into the Meadowlands to face the punishing Jets defense, but Adrian Peterson had no doubts he could run at will against them. Peterson accumulated 230 yards on 32 carries and 1 TD. He also had 90 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD. Although the game was close enough for the Jets to possibly tie the game in the 4th quarter with a TD and 2 point conversion, the Vikes appeared to have a handle of this game from the beginning. It also didn't help that Mark Sanchez was only 4 for 17 for a tiny 64 yards. The second year QB must start to become the franchise QB the Jets envisioned if this team expects to win. The Jets now find themselves at 1-4 and are having a very disappointing season. The Vikings have no resemblance to the team that was 0-4 and with an upcoming bye week, they will be very prepared to continue their winning streak in Week 9 against the Bills.

Jaguars 36 - Titans 34 Credit: Macruz/pillBOXhat

This was an excellent game. Both RB's were the stars of the game. Neither defense could contain MJD or CJ. MJD pounded the ball for 243 yards and 3 TDs on just 19 carries. Although CJ only had 1 TD, his 229 bursting yds on 18 carries was electrifying. Judging from the scoreless first quarter, one would have thought this would be a hard fought defensive battle. Not even close. The defenses were a non factor. Through 3 quarters, both teams scored a combined 70 points. To start the 4th, the Jags had a slight lead over the Titans, 29-28. In that quarter, the Jags could of extended their lead by attempting a 4th down conversion, but punted instead. The Titans responded by cutting the lead down to 2 points with 1 min left after they scored on a 6 yard pass, but failed to convert the 2 points. Tennessee didn't use an onside kick but were able to stop Jacksonville on a crucial 3rd and inches. The Jags were forced to punt with 50 seconds left in the game. On their drive to score the winning FG, the Titans failed on a 4th down conversion as RB Chris Brown caught the critical pass out of bounds. The catch appeared to be in-bounds, but there was no review from the refereeing crew. Many Titans fans cried foul and left the game feeling robbed.
